MP GEORGINA JOLIBOIS TO HOST DISABILITY TAX CREDIT SEMINAR BY NDP PETER JULIAN

LA RONGE, SK — In collaboration with the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services, Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region, NorthSask Victim Services, NDP’s Georgina Jolibois (Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River) is organizing two seminars on the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). Every year, many Canadians do not apply for the DTC, which offers substantial assistance to people who face difficulties in their daily activities.

The first seminar will be held on August 29th at 2:30pm. The location is the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre in Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan, (Far Reserve).

The Telehealth session will be held on August 30, at the La Ronge Health Centre (Room 2708) from 9:30am to approximately 11:30am. The Telehealth session will be offered to the three northern health regions (MCRRHA, KYHR and AHA) as well as the northern First Nations communities (MLTC, PBCN, PAGC and LLRIB). Please RSVP your local Telehealth coordinator by August 29, 2016 and ask to join session # 864560 (Seminar on Disability Tax Credit Forms).

‟The disability tax credit can amount to a large sum per year per person,” said Jolibois. ‟If you have forgotten to claim it in the past, you can request an adjustment and claim it retroactively as far back as 10 years.”

DTC eligibility is based on the level of difficulty you face in your daily activities: walking, eating, seeing, hearing, or maintaining bowel or bladder functions. ‟If you want to know whether you or someone close to you is eligible, you should attend the upcoming seminar that we are holding with my NDP colleague Peter Julian, who is an experienced MP and an expert on the topic,” added the MP for Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River. Since the seminars are very popular and space is limited, you should call 1-844- 294-6711 or 1-866-400-2334 to reserve your spot and to receive the Telehealth Coordinator’s contact information located in your area.
